White Album

Lewis Black "The White Album"

Many of you already know Lewis for his weekly segment "Back in Black" on Comedy Central's Daily Show. Lewis is an energetically angry guy, whose delivery pummels the listener into submission with his views on how insane American society is. We are extremely proud to be associated with Lewis. The White Album is Lewis' classic debut for STAND UP!

end of the universe

Lewis Black "The End of the Universe"

The End of the Universe - The follow-up to 2000's highly successful, "The White Album." This album was recorded just before September 11, 2001, and as a result needed to be re-recorded. Lewis waxes eloquent about patriotism and airport security and needing to re-record an album. The rampage continues...

Rules of Enragement

Lewis Black "Rules of Enragement"

In a world where there is no word sufficient to describe the greed and avarice of the heads of our corporations and no dousing of water is large enough to halt the lustful frolics of government and business, only the truly insane can even begin to sound reasonable. Enter Lewis Black. Armed with his trademark acerbic wit, Black holds nothing back, his ranting quickly finding a rhythm on ''Rules of Enragement'' and letting up only after American society's collective paunch has been adequately poked and the vinyl's come to rest. Good thing there's a B-side, though, because if there's one thing Lewis Black will teach you, it's that America's paunch has never been adequately poked. It cannot be adequately poked it's simply too bloated. Exorcising the demons so you don't have to, 2003's ''Rules of Enragement'' finds Black sharpening his topical talons on everything from Adelphia to Iraq, the small pox vaccine to the only umbrella stand that could possibly be worth six grand (hint: it makes creative use of Martha Stewart's mythical nether regions). The overwhelming takeaway, though, is that nothing Lewis Black could possibly dream up could be more frightening, ridiculous, or laughably f*cked up as the state of the world, just as it is. Fittingly, ''Rules of Enragement,'' a fine piece of blue humor recorded live in the tundra, is now out in a special limited edition blue vinyl reissue from Minneapolis's own Stand Up! Records.

1. Minnesota Winters 2. The Settling of Minnesota 3. The Coldest Winter Ever! 4. International Travel 5. Ireland & Health 6. Health Clubs 7. Small Pox 8. Greed 9. Who's F**cking Who 10. Homeland Security 11. Bringing Democracy to Iraq 12. The War In Iraq 13. A Sense of Humor
Luther Burbank

Lewis Black "Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues"

It's tragic because it's true, but it's funny because Lewis Black is at the mic. 2005's "Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues" finds Mr. Black stalking the stage and attacking pop culture and politics in equal measure. Like the jolt from a cup of good, strong coffee, the world-weary Black is bracing and just a little bitter (okay, maybe a lot bitter), and absolutely bound to leave his listeners wanting more as he takes on the ludicrous spectacle of Superbowl Halftime Shows past (including the memorable 2004 show, the aftermath of which taught Black the phrase "nipple clamp"), segueing into diatribes on gay marriage, acid trips, and the comparative merits of KFC and MTV along the way. Transitioning from the lighter fare of the first half of the record, Black positively eviscerates the current administration in the closing boot-party, "Iraq, an Idiot's Delight," going for the jugular with the likes of Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld squarely in his sights and pausing to remind any conservatives in the audience that, well, if the liberals were in charge, they'd be at the top of his list instead. Always equal opportunity in his disparagement of the world around him, Black declares, "My problem is with authority." Never has it been more apparent than on the Grammy-nominated "Burbank," re-released here in limited edition vinyl with a newly redesigned "bootleg" cover from Stand Up! Records.
